Kathy and Marco on our first dive.....sometimes I didn't get the right color lens filter to bring out the colors but the colors were brilliant....you will see in some of the later photos
A lobster (those are his antennae there) tucked into a colorful collection of hard and soft colors....
We saw many different types of nudibranchs in the reefs. This is (I believe) Elizabeth's Chromodoris....
Gorgeous soft corals hide nearly all varieties of Anemonefish These are Orange Anemonefish with orange eggs!!
This is how a coral reef is supposed to look, messy and crammed all on top of each other, wildly colored and teaming with life! It was so good to see healthy reef again, and it gives us hope! Note the Orange Anemonefish in the anemone and the Longnose Butterfly Fish toward the bottom of the picture
A Squarespot Anthias. These guys were everywhere, but I don't believe we've seen them before Wakatobi. This is the male, the females are all golden colored, and it's usually 1 male for every 8-10 females or so
Here is the better picture of the Spinecheek Anenomefish. The female is darker and bigger than the bright orange male.
'Nother Yellow Margined Eel....Look at the variation of colors and colors surrounding him....Almost looks like a park, doesn't it?
Many, many sponges! Probably the most and biggest sponges we've seen since Honduras! These healthy tube sponges are providing a napping place for this sleepy turtle!
Hiding a big variety of life! That white and black thing down there is a nudibranch, known as a Funeral Jorunna...
A Many-Spotted Sweetlips....Note the giant field of Cabbage Coral lying behind the Sweetlips in his Staghorn Coral....And of course, the huge cloud of fish above it.
Those little bitty spots near the new growth on this Cabbage Coral (the bluish ring) are Squat Shrimp. Yep, Kathy bought a new (and stronger!) magnifying glass!!
You can get a scale of how large some of the Crinoids and Corals are. Silvia and I are completely hidden behind this one! And did I mention the colors?
Nestled up inside of the Bubble Coral is an Orangutan Crab. Can you see the reddish furry thing between the bubbles? That's him! He does actually look a lot like an Orangutan!
Believe it or not the that is a small critter next to the sea pen.....the video shows it swimming around......we can't remember the name:((
This guy is really good! Down amongst the rubble, near the center of the picture is a Tasseled Scorpionfish. He's sort of leaning against that pipe coral...Do you see the tassels under his chin and his eyes above? Like I said, he's good!
One more master of disguise....Can you find the Crocodile fish here? This one is a little different color than the previous one, but he blends in nearly perfectly. His tail is towards the center of the picture and if you follow it to the left side, you'll just make out his head. Amazing, eh?
