Suwarrow, Cook Islands to Niue, Day 2

August 10, 2013 10:59 am / John

3:00am 8/10:

Another boring day at sea…..just how we like them!!!! Wow, I must have been really worn out from Suwarrow…..all I did all day was read and nap…..LIG 🙂 )))))

Pretty tired tonight….was in a deep sleep when it was my time for watch……hard to wake up….coffee not working…..arghhhhh!!!! Today was much better conditions….seas and wind gradually calmed and backed to 12-18 kts ENE and seas calmed to 4-7′ E……a much better ride as it went from being on the beam to on the stern….yeah!!!!!

I do see some convection in the far west…..think that is the LO/front coming in we were hoping to beat…..doesn’t look like we will…..could be a dark and stormy day/night coming up…..hmmmm, pass the rum please 🙂 ))))

Boat Stuff: We call it the 747……the big stand up fan in our stateroom….crashed and burned the 1st night…..pretty warm in our stateroom now…..we have smaller fans which we are using but the big 747 was our lifesaver…..one of the first things we will need to purchase when we get to Niue if they have them. But, the further south we go the cooler it is so maybe we will be ok!!!!

The big engine room blower Les installed on the big passage developed a loud squeal (bearing??) and we had to shut it down…..the ER temp now has crept up to 115 deg F+……not bad but want it <110 deg F…..I have a 2nd old blower so will need to swap it out when we get to Niue!!
