Hi All,
We made it to the pilot station in front of Avacha Bay by 7:00am RST and officialdom has struck again. We have been told by the Coast Guard to go to a waiting area. This happened to another boat we know…..we think it is due to Customs not opening until 8:00am…..it is now 8:30am and we have been waiting for 1.5 hours….arghhhhh……at least the seas are down to 1-3′ so not too bad doing donuts at 5 kts…..ugh!!!
We have emailed our agent Alexei and he indicated they are waiting for permission from the Head of Coast Guard…really!!!
Once we get permission to enter the bay it is still another 1.5 hours to the Customs wharf, then after we check in another 5nm to the marina…..why they make us wait outside the Bay is another mystery…..bureaucratic logic I guess.
I’ll send another blog later today/tomorrow with all the Day 5 details!!
