Sept 7
Hi All,
Just a quick note to let everyone know we are leaving New Caledonia for Bundaberg Australia tomorrow Sept 8 early morning. It’s been a hectic last few days and I don’t have time to catch up the blog tonight but will do so while on passage.
This run is 800nm and will have a little bit of everything. It will take us about 4 days and 6-8 hours. We hope to arrive in Bundaberg early afternoon on Saturday Sept 12.
This passage starts out pretty calm, winds behind us and a manageable swell. But we meet a small trough during day 2 that will calm the winds…yeah….but then we will have a wind shift to small headwinds for a while….ugh…. then the winds start to build and back to eventually being behind us. We think we will have about 24 hours of very beamy stuff than the last 2 days of 15-20G25 kt winds on the port aft quarter. Unfortunately the swell builds also in the 6-9′ range medium period…..ugh.
So, you might ask why take this window…..well, there is not another window for at least 10-14 days and we just feel we need to get to Australia for several reasons which I’ll explain further in the blog!!
Hope all is well!!
John
