Hi All,
It’s 3:00am on our 2nd night out and John Boy is very tired/sleepy. Neither of us has had much consistent sleep the first 2 days of this trip…..arghhhhhhh!!!!
Kathy and I are already very depressed to leave Fiji and our friends but then to have to deal with this slop….well, we both were a bit puckered and whiny 🙁 (((
But, we have good news!!!! After 36 hours of this mess at around midnight and just past 22 deg lat things went from 20-25G27 ESE to 12-18G20 ESE….yeah and finally. We went from consistent 20+ deg rolls with occasional 30+ deg rolls (like one every 3-5 min) to a somewhat stable and smoother ride (rolls now in the +/- 10/15 deg)…..still not quite trawler weather yet!!!!
And our speed picked back up. We are now in the 7.4-8.0 kt range averaging in the mid 7’s. We might make late Sunday afternoon/evening after all!!!
We did have to tack off to the west (10-20 deg) for about 4 hours as it just got to be too much last night!!
We had things come loose like never before…..coffee pot fell and spilled coffee on the galley rug, items falling out of refer when you opened door (this has happened before but this time there was a lot more stuff falling out), several items came loose on the FB (kayak, cooler, cushions)….this happened on Kathy’s watch so she was up on the FB re-securing things…..yep she was livin the dream at that moment for sure…..arghhhhhhh!!!
Boat Stuff:
Camera Display: Gone…we have lost the display on our Interphase unit? Is it a cable connection or the cameras??? I think the connections but so far I can’t find the loose one….ugh!!! Now 2 of 6 instruments on the console are dark 🙁 (((((
Wind Vane: Something has happened to the wind vane on top of the mast. We are now reading ~60 deg off the true wind. We have had a good ten years on this unit so no complaints…..just add it to the repair list….ugh!!!!
