Hi All,
Day 3, All is well!!!
Oops, yesterday I reported the air temp was 30*F….my bad…it was 40*F….still cold to us!!!!
Yesterday during the day was sporty. As we were crossing the 40nm wide Friza Strait between Ostrov Urup and Shibetoro the winds went W – NW….very beamy….15-30kts, 6-8′ seas, some on the beam and some on the stern so very confused seas…ugh. This lasted for about 8 hours….and we fought a 0.5-2.0 foul current making wind against current so some very steep waves…took one 30+* roll and many in the 20-30* range. Once past the channel and into the lee of Ostrov Urup everything calmed…..winds <10 kts, seas in 1-3′ on the stern….trawler weather baby!!!! During the night the winds built to 7-20kts, seas 2-4′ all from behind so still a very nice ride!!!
AND…..NO FOG…..very bright sun, air temps made it to 50*F!!!! Heater finally caught up and took a rest, but temps back to 40*F overnight and heater ran full time!!!!
Boat Stuff: We have now gone over 7000 hours of engine time….wow, this little trawler than can…..amazing…..another milestone for us!!!!

Weather: 10% cloud cover; air temp is 42*F, sea temp is 37*F…brrrrr; cabin temp 68*F…..diesel heater staying on all the time at night, can’t keep up with these temps and wind
Boat sightings: ~5-10; all cargo ships some fishing boats near the islands; all taking the great circle route to Canada or USA; some right on our course and some 10-20nm east of us!!!
