Sept 12
Hi All,
4th night….really dragging….bring on the coffee!!!!
Yep…a little brain fog yesterday….forgot to include the weather in the blog….so here was yesterday’s weather….our roughest day:
Sept 11:
Yes, a miserable day…..17-22G25….started at SSE and ever so slowly backed to ESE by early morning, 2am. The winds now are -140 off the port bow…..20-25G28….a much better ride for us!!!
That southerly swell was the main culprit….right on the beam and 8-12’….it was the 12′ ones that rolled us pretty good. The swell is still big…..10+’ with 1m wind chop….impressive…..but SE, so well behind us and manageable!!
The good news is the favorable current returned after having a counter current most of yesterday. We were doing speeds upwards of 8.6kts which made our active stabilizers more effective!! Unfortunately around 2am we lost it and now have a counter current again.
OK….now for today’s weather:
Not a bad day…..winds stayed in the 18-22G25 for the most part with a few 20-25G30 periods….all ESE or -150 off port bow. The swells got quite large…..9-14′ in the morning…..as tall as our flybridge….very impressive…..all SE. Gradually the swells subsided to 6-8′ but short period.
We made the Lady Elliot waypoint by 6am. For the most part we had a favorable current but occasional up to 1 kt counter current.
After making the turn at Lady Elliot the winds seem to clock to more SE…..mor eon our beam….so a bit bumpy coming in.
Boat stuff: nada…..ate ice cream and candy bars all day/night:)))))
